Do your homework & save $$$

December 30th, 2014 Posted in Money Saving Tips

Well it is the end of the year and time to check your financial house. Don’t be like the person at my gym that hasn’t been there in two(2) years and still has not cancelled their membership ($240 dollars wasted). Check your debit card, credit card and checking account statement to make sure you are not paying for a service or membership you no longer need or use. It is your money and your life don’t waste either one. There are no reruns or returns

Happy Holidays!!

December 30th, 2014 Posted in Business, Savings Tips

Time to get financially ready for the new year. From a fortune cookie “the architect of your destiny is your self” so create a plan that works for you. Start by knowing where your money goes!! Use paper and pen or something on your computer what ever works for you. You can always change your tracking system what is really important is just do it. Most people don’t plan to fail they fail to plan.

Save Automatically

December 9th, 2014 Posted in Money Saving Tips

presentNeed help saving why not try automatic saving. Pick a date during the month and have a set amount of money transferred from your checking to a savings account or any account where it can sit and accumulate. I do this with online banking I picked a date and an amount to transfer. All I have to do is make sure I make the appropriate entry into my check book register, it is just like paying a bill. You might want to check with your discount broker about sending it to an account where you can make purchases without incurring a fee.

Affordable Care Act Website

November 27th, 2014 Posted in Savings Tips, Seniors

OK it is sign up time again for Obama care. Here is what I found this year. If you have not been on the Healthcare.gov website in a while you will probably have to reset your password. Which means in most cases that you have to make a phone call to the phone number on the sign-in screen and have your account unlocked. Take your time do it when there are no interruptions and take lots of deep breaths. The site is a lot better then last year. You can compare plans before doing the application, check them over, make phone calls if necessary get answers to your questions then pick a plan. Our monthly cost actually went down and our drug cost went up

Budget your giving!

November 19th, 2014 Posted in Savings Tips

bellringerWell it is that time of year again when everybody has their hand out.  Giving to a charity is great so long as you give what you can afford not what someone makes you feel guilty about.  Also make sure what ever you give is actually going to the charity.  Also watch where you park when shopping and be aware of your surroundings and never be afraid to ask for an escort to your car.

Holiday Spending

November 4th, 2014 Posted in Finance Tips, Money Saving Tips

presentOkay, it is the beginning of holiday shopping season so beware of the commercials. Don’t overspend! Make a list and try to stick to it. Layaway can be a great way to not be in debt after the holidays. Just remember when your list is complete stop shopping, relax and enjoy time with family and friends!

Don’t let volatility rattle you.

snowball_downhillIf you invested in good companies and they are still good companies hang in there remember if you sell that is a decision and then you must decide when and at what price to buy. Growing a portfolio takes time, time in the market not out of it. Reinvest those dividends and watch your portfolio grow like a snowball rolling down hill.

THE MAGIC BANK ACCOUNT

October 16th, 2014 Posted in WholeSum Thoughts

THE AUTHOR IS NOT KNOWN. IT WAS FOUND IN THE BILLFOLD OF COACH PAUL BEAR BRYANT, ALABAMA, AFTER HE DIED IN 1982

The Magic Bank Account

Imagine that you had won the following *PRIZE* in a contest: Each morning
your bank would deposit $86,400 in your private account for your use.
However, this prize has rules:

The set of rules:
1. Everything that you didn’t spend during each day would be taken away
from you.
2. You may not simply transfer money into some other account.
3. You may only spend it.
4. Each morning upon awakening, the bank opens your account with another
$86,400 for that day.
5. The bank can end the game without warning; at any time it can say, Game
Over!”. It can close the account and you will not receive a new one.

What would you personally do?

You would buy anything and everything you wanted right? Not only for
yourself, but for all the people you love and care for. Even for people you
don’t know, because you couldn’t possibly spend it all on yourself, right?

You would try to spend every penny, and use it all, because you knew it
would be replenished in the morning, right?

ACTUALLY, This GAME is REAL …
Shocked ??? ……..YES!

Each of us is already a winner of this *PRIZE*. We just can’t seem to see it.
The PRIZE is *TIME*

1. Each morning we awaken to receive 86,400 seconds as a gift of life.
2. And when we go to sleep at night, any remaining time is Not credited to us.
3. What we haven’t used up that day is forever lost.
4. Yesterday is forever gone.
5. Each morning the account is refilled, but the bank can dissolve your
account at any time WITHOUT WARNING…

SO, what will YOU do with your 86,400 seconds?

Those seconds are worth so much more than the same amount in dollars.
Think about it and remember to enjoy every second of your life, because time
races by so much quicker than you think.

So take care of yourself, be happy, love deeply and enjoy life!
Here’s wishing you a wonderful and beautiful day. Start spending….

“DONT COMPLAIN ABOUT GROWING OLD…!”
SOME PEOPLE DON’T GET THE PRIVILEGE!’

Scary Market

October 14th, 2014 Posted in Business, Finance Tips

business-time-11291126308C1YOK yes the market is acting scary but don’t panic! Just consider it a sale where you might get a good buy on something you have been wanting. Yes tomorrow it might be cheaper but then again it could be more expensive. We don’t always get to buy what we want at the lowest price but with proper research a fair and reasonable price.
